About Jonathan

My wife, Erin, and our son, Jameson, on Feb. 28, 2023, the night I was officially sworn-in as a trustee.

Jonathan Q. Hill, MSEd

Jonathan Hill, born and raised in Waco, Texas, is a marketing and communications professional at Baylor University, where he has served as the Senior Brand Strategy Specialist since 2019. His responsibilities change daily, ranging from writing features for the University’s magazine to building communications strategies for the live bear program, while also assisting campus partners with project management and marketing best practices.

In February 2023, Hill interviewed for and was selected to fill a vacant role on the MCC Board of Trustees for District 1, representing portions of North and East Waco. He then ran for an unexpired, six-year term in May 2023, winning over 73% of the vote.

Before transitioning into his role in institutional marketing, he worked in athletics communications for Baylor Athletics, helping coordinate public relations efforts for some of the department’s most successful programs, including softball’s trip to the Women’s College World Series, soccer’s back-to-back Big 12 titles and women’s basketball’s NCAA hosting duties. His love for Baylor and its sports programs started at an early age, tagging along to games and practices with his dad, who served as the Baylor football and women’s basketball beat writer for the Waco Tribune-Herald before joining Baylor Athletics as a staff writer.

Hill graduated from Bosqueville High School, a rural school district just north of Waco, where his mom taught first grade. He obtained his associate degree from McLennan Community College, transferring on to Tarleton State through MCC’s University Center to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing. He was accepted into Baylor University’s sports management graduate program, earning his Master of Science in Education in educational administration.

Hill and his wife, Erin, a congregational social worker at Baylor, now reside in Waco’s Cedar Ridge neighborhood with their son, Jameson. They enjoy weekly trips to Waco’s Downtown Farmer’s Market, their church family at UBC Waco, drives through Cameron Park and a never-ending quest for Waco’s best tacos and BBQ.

Serving as a trustee at McLennan Community College is an absolute honor and privilege. As an alum, I am deeply grateful for the patience and grace MCC extended to me as a student. The opportunity to give back to the college that provided me with a community, a degree, and countless chances to grow is immensely rewarding. I am proud to work with and learn from my colleagues on the MCC Board. I have grown a network of peers, friends, and leaders in higher education innovation from across Texas and around the country to continue showcasing the tremendous value MCC offers to both our students and the wider community while ensuring that we are providing the best and most productive education possible for our students.
